Granular materials and crushed materials

Crushed stone, also called angular rock, is removed from the surface and reduced to the desired size by crushing machines. This crushed stone is converted into aggregate, which is a key material for the construction of roads, streets and highways and is also an integral part of the asphalt mix as an input material.

Granular materials are typically placed on the subgrade to form a support layer at the base of asphalt pavements and hydraulic concrete slabs.

02

Asphalt mixtures

Understanding the asphalt mixture process begins, like any process, with understanding its raw materials, which can be classified, in general, into two groups. The first of these is asphalt cement from refining processes and made up of heavy hydrocarbons. The main characteristics of this input are that it is a highly cementitious material, water repellent and resistant to attack by most acids; it has high elasticity. Its characteristics provide good bonding and cohesion, acting as a cementing agent for the aggregates. The latter are part of the second related group, which refers to any combination of sand, gravel or rock in its natural or processed state. The aggregates used in the asphalt mixture production process at DAI are of river and quarry origin, which are dosed in the appropriate manner to comply with the technical specifications required for the asphalt mixture production processes.

In Colombia, specifications can be classified into 5 sections, all of them with the possibility of production in our production plants: 1) INVIAS, 2) IDU and 3) private.

Dense Asphalt Mix

MCCH-25 (IDU)

MCCH-19 (IDU)

MGCR-19 (INVIAS)

Asphalt treads with compact thicknesses between 40mm and 100mm.

Asphalt mixtures produced with asphalt cement modified with recycled rubber grain, strengthening properties and providing advantages such as:

- Greater resistance to aging

- Better resistance to deformation

- Reduction of noise levels

- Lower susceptibility to moisture

02

Semi-dense asphalt mix

BG-CA Type A-2018 (IDU)

Granular mixtures stabilized with asphalt are used to replace granular bases supporting asphalt layers in flexible pavements. Stabilized bases allow for increased resistance and susceptibility to moisture damage in the pavement structure.

03

Asphalt Stabilized Bases

MD-12-2011 Asphalt Type IIb (IDU)

MD-19-2018 Asphalt Type III (IDU)

MAM-25-2018 Type V Asphalt (IDU)

Asphalt treads with compact thicknesses between 60mm and 130mm.
High elasticity modules, providing greater stress absorption capacity and greater fatigue capacity
